Another noise catches our attention. A male voice? But it's inside, not out. W03Z takes a defensive stance over me and calls out to the voice.
His response leaves me more confused, he is an inmate as well? Then he mentions the girls who have already passed, I saw them in the wallpaper my first night, and I dread the day I will surely join them. He mentions a girl with two souls.
"W10R?" I say, "She's here, I tried to call to her."
I can't hide the tremble in my voice. On top of all the fear I am now confronted by a man, and I don't trust men. Husband gave me plenty of reasons not to.
"Why are you here?" I ask.

- Where I came from, we don't only trust in one god and one book of rules that mankind cannot follows. We believe in many others superior forces, including those who take cares of the dead. The white people are afraid of my people. They stole our lands and transforme us into slaves, and doesn't allows to have our spiritual view. I crossed the ocean in a chance to learn something new, but here 8 end up. I do whatever I can to come down here, because I must help these souls. It's no hard to get in here, I just have to be myself. Fear nothing! I'm here to help, I can feel how difficult is for you to trust someone like me. But you? Why are you here, madam? And you, Wolfie, where's your pack leader?
He tried to smile in vain, it was difficult to understand how white males can be so ignorant that hurts even those who brings the life to their kind. Rainmaker closes his eyes and takes a deep breathe, the blue color was the only thing he sees from the girl being protected, pure sadness, and with all the reasons. The Wolf Girl was more difficult to define, his kind and the nature walks in the same hand. Clearly not just a girl raised by a good mother, but does she knows about the magic in herself?

I sigh softly. "My mother was killed by hunters. The surviving pack fled. I like to hope my mother's mate, the leader of the pack, stayed to fight, but I cannot be sure. The hunters took me away to a zoo where humans, the 'white people' as you say, could gawk at me. I arrived at the Asylum when Madame Mournington heard tell of my whereabouts."
I feel W05W squeeze my paw: She knows that telling this story pains me. But the story must be told, or many more wolves like myself will be caged or killed. I turn to W11J. "You seem to know much, Rainmaker. Tell me: Why do I faintly detect the smell of milk on Madame Mournington? The smell of motherhood, of nourishment and warmth? The smell should have all but faded with Doctor Stockill. The scent is faint, but I can still smell it if I sniff hard enough." I can't imagine Madame Mournington ever being a mother, but she birthed Doctor Stockill. Was there another more recently? I feel like information is being kept from me, but then again, why would the doctors give information to a mad girl?

I hold W03Zs hand as she tells her story once again. She sounds so sad and I hate for her to have to bring it all back up over and over. Memories can be so painful. When she finished I turn to Rainmaker cautiously, but look him directly in the eye, though it is very hard to see. "I am a fallen wife. Unfit for society and unwilling to play along."
I say no more, and turn back to W05W. Though I am silent, my thoughts are racing. His tribe? White people? Is this man not of England? I have read many stories of indigenous peoples around the world but due to my imprisonment first in fathers home, then in husbands, I have not met anyone so exotic. I was "lucky" to go out to socialize among gentle society, painted ladies and gentlemen all looking the same, talking the same, dressing the same. How they bored me. I went as little as possible though staying "home" was hardly a better option.
W03Z asks him of Madam Mournington. She senses a maternal quality, and I must take her word for it, as I have never met a colder woman in all my life. But with her acute senses I have no doubt that she is more intuitive than I.

— There's no such thing as "fallen wife", my dear. Between my tribe, sometimes marriage isn't something full of love. Sometimes the person must marry the greatest warrior or the greatest spirit-listener, for example. Marriage is a contract made of partnership. You are not a terrible wife, if your husband is a terrible husband. When you become someone partner, it doesn't matter if you are in love or not, you both are walking together in the same path, and one must take care of the other. We believe that before any love grows up, we need to become friends. Your husband is shit.
He used the truest words he could think about it at the moment. In his tribe, the great warrior, doesn't matter if it's a man or a woman, should be able to take care and be true for those who are walking in the same path. Nothing was keeping him more disgusting as these "white mens" being abusive with their wifes, with their mothers, with every women figure in their life. He also scratched his chin for a while thinking about the wolf-lady's words.
— I must say that I am very surprised about this, I feel something weird about that woman, but I couldn't be thinking of something like this. My inmate fellows, would help me in a sort of a quest? It can be dangerous, but I can presume the results can be good. We can ask about it for those who are trying to rest, right down here. But I might need some tools for it. By myself, I can't go any further, if they catch me, but if we work as a team, we can succeed.

"What is your plan?" I ask. I take interest in this new person's story of living in a tribe and helping one another. It reminds me of a wolf pack. "What tools do you need? If it's a sharp set of teeth, I'm your girl."

I listened as Rainmaker explained marriage in his own culture, and how very different indeed, but no more appealing to me than my being sold. It seems to me bound as a cursed union unless there is love. Otherwise whatever is the point? Being attached to another as a partner or otherwise is a concept I rather dislike, unless the decision is completely my own. Not to mention my radical thoughts on the horrifying experience of pregnancy and childbirth.
I say nothing, however, and he continues to W03Zs question. He doesn't mention her intuition of Madam Mournington, but instead asks if we might help him in a quest of sorts? I do not understand what he could possibly mean, and I am not sure that I am keen on involving myself. I have not much to offer anyways. W03Z, however, seems to take an interest at his suggestion and declares her teeth at the ready, should they be needed.
I wait to hear more of this odd mans plan, for I am wary, and I still do not trust him.

He stoped and pondered for a minute. Those girls are completely different from each other, making him more and more sad. Being different wasn't supposed to be something "weird", but all society had issues. Even his tribe had his problems too. The one with the messy hair was really expecting some adventure, but the red hair one wasn't really feeling good about it. He couldn't blame, everybody suffers in differents forms.
— That's rude of my part. I didn't even ask your names, or numbers if you wish. And I don't blame anybody who doesn't want to be part of it. Specially those who aren't comfortable with this idea. You my dear, you don't have to do anything if you don't want.
He tried to sound easy as it could be. He blamed nobody of being suspicious, he was still a man, and also a native. Completely "weird" in victorian eyes. And what he was about to do was even more creepy. But he must end the suffering of the souls.
— I need to make them free. The souls are suffering even more than us. Death should be the ending of the suffering, how sad can be if you aren't free when you are supposed to be? Many girls here were murdered, died of sickness or killed themselves in a wish to be free. Here! Listen!
He took a few steps into the darkness of that wet cell, sitting in one corner, while closing his eyes. He wasn't sure if they could hear, but even in a closed room, the wind howled in pain.
— I need to set them free. I must call for one spirit in particular, the Baron of the Dead. Than he can lead the souls to freedom. But to call him, I need some candles, a crayon, tea leaves and an alcoholic drink.

I hear the wind howl around me, howl like the members of my pack who never survived the onslaught by the hunters. At first, I believe it to be the wind, but then to my surprise I realize it's the Asylum ghosts!
"Oh, oh no!" I cry out. "They aren't free! They're caged! W05W, they're caged!" I cover my head with my paws, whimpering for the dead girls who would never be free if we didn't help. "W05W, we must help!"

I have heard the ghosts too. Since the very first day here. I have known ghosts all my life, they follow me.
I pull W03Z close and smooth her hair with my hand. "Of course we will help them, darling." I say quietly. I look to Rainmaker, "When we are released from quarantine we will look for the things you seek. We can bring them to you in the walking yard if you like."
I am still unsure about him, but I care more about the ghosts than my prejudice. They have suffered enough, they have told me since I stepped foot into this dreadful place, and if there is a way to free them at last then I wish to help.

— You don't seem very surprised. I can imagine you've been hearing them for a while right?
He was quite surprised for sure with W05W, suprised in a good way, she was stronger than anyone could realizes. That was a good thing. He got up one more time still keeping a certain distance from the girls, he knows how scare he can be, specially in the shadows, even if wasn't his main plain. A few more steps and get more closer to the bars of the cell, trying to hear if someone was around.
— W03Z, you worry, they are just afraid as we were since we got here. I can imagine that is even more cold for them than to us. Well, we should be waisting more time. I don't know how long would take to get us out of here in the proper time of quarantine. But we can try something, like a theather. They are really afraid of me and my color, you can just scream and tell the guards that I will eat you girls alive, or something creepy like this, maybe they can get you out of here. Does anyone have any better idea? I am all ears.

W11J has the idea that W05W and I can scream in terror and the Chasers will come, but I'm skeptical. The Chasers have never come when we were in danger, so why would they now?
"Hmm..." I murmured. "It's a dirt floor down here, right? Maybe we can dig under the door? There's so many inmates here, I doubt the Chasers would notice if we escaped."

Rainmakers plan doesn't appeal much, I highly doubt anyone would bat an eye if we screamed, warranted or not. I nod when W03Z suggests digging, though. I'm sure they rarely have problems with the beaten girls having the strength to dig out. If we did and could manage to get to the bathing court or walking yard unnoticed we would likely be placed back into our regular routines without any suspicions.

- If you think you are strong enough to dig. Be my fest. To be honest me all alone wouldn't be able to do something like this. But I believe that you are stronger than I can imagine.
There's a bunch of people in quarantines cells. They probably wouldn't notice two missing girls. He closes his eyes for a moment trying to remember the world outside that walls. He was sure there's no light in the main yard, maybe they will get the chance to not been seen. The spirits would help to keep them in the dark.
- But some of my things would be easy to find in those doctors rooms. And maybe the director lady. How are you going to manage to get there? In the yard, the spirits can keep you in the dark, but only the angry ones can throw some objects and make scary noise, but someone so "scientifically" as those doctors, I wouldn't bet if would work.

"Dr. Stockill leaves for the basement at 4:00 every afternoon, and he takes Dr. Greavesly and Dr. Lymer with him," I say. "So, at 4:00 we can attempt to break into the doctors' chambers. Also, I believe I heard word of Madame Mournington leaving to a place called 'Coventry' for a few days. Now, I don't know where that is, but surely it isn't nearby. I can smell the fear on her: she wants to get away from her son."
I crawl to a nearby wall and inhale deeply. I can't smell any Chasers, but then again, that might just be because the stench of rotting corpses and salty tears permeated the room. In any event, I begin to dig with my forepaws, hoping my scent improves the closer I get to the other side.
