Outside's cold air is much nicer than the cold air in...well...throughout the asylum as a whole. I people watch from where I stand, drawing in the dirt with my stocking toe. Circles and then triangles and then stars, trying to ignore the cold as my body shivers regardless. I wince every time I see another girl smacked for talking to loud, for going outside of the imaginary bounds that the chasers change on a whim for...for simply breathing! I cannot keep still. Which may be a good thing, maybe I'll warm up that way, but I know that it will never happen.

I walk through the outside swinging my arms wide. I love the cool air and the way it passes over my skin. If I do it right I feel like I'm at sea again with the wind. I'm sure I look as mad as they say I am but I don't care. I open my eyes to make sure I'm not about to walk into a chaser "oh shit!" I say as I look down and notice I walked through a girls drawings "I'm so sorry. Fuck!"
